Hamilton Ventura Elvis Anniversary Collection Watches

Lead words: 2010 is Elvis Presley’s 75-year-old birthday. Elvis’ fans all over the world held a variety of activities to remember this rock king. Hamilton also launched “Ventura Elvis’ 75th Anniversary Collection.

In 1961, Elvis who just left the army appeared in the Hollywood film “Blue Hawaii”. In this film he wore a Hamilton Adventure series watch. From then on, Elvis and Hamilton watch forged a profound destiny of love. He not only had several Ventura watches for daily wear, but also collected Ventura watches. He completely became a collector of Ventura watches. Elvis especially loved metal strap watch, for which Hamilton specially designed patent Ventura watch with two-tier comfort steel strap and presented Elvis as a gift.

Elvis was an American musician and actor. He is often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll”. Presley is regarded as one of the most important figures of 20th-century popular culture. He had a versatile voice and unusually wide success encompassing many genres, including country, pop ballads, gospel, and blues. He is the best-selling solo artist in the history of popular music. Nominated for 14 competitive Grammys, he won three, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36. He has been inducted into four music halls of fame. To celebrate Elvis’ 75th birthday, Hamilton launched five special models of the iconic Ventura watch. The distinctive, shield-shaped timepiece, worn by Elvis in the 1961 movie, Blue Hawaii, comes in five new interpretations.

Ventura Elvis Anniversary Collection
The Ventura Quartz is a faithful tribute to the original 1957 model, which made watch-making history as the world’s first electrical, battery powered watch. Design detail of the case of the new model mirrors that of its 1950s ancestors and today comes in either silver-colored stainless steel or a yellow gold PVD finish. A black dial is also reminiscent of the 1950s Ventura timepieces, complete with digit markings all culminating in an embossed rounded point like the surrounds of the iconic wall-clocks of the era. These nostalgic looks enclose a modern Swiss quartz movement to ensure precision timekeeping for the 21st century.

The choice of attachment for the Ventura Quartz, with the possibility of a metallic flex bracelet or a bi-color leather strap in gold paired with silver or black, has its own story to tell. The watch originally purchased by Elvis would have had a leather strap and archive material reveals that, at his special wish, the jeweller exchanged this for a metal bracelet to satisfy his celebrity customer.

Ventura XXL Elvis Anniversary Collection
Having started its life as a pioneer, the Hamilton Ventura continues to make a bold statement over half a century later in the form of a limited XXL edition. This special timepiece integrates touches of the unexpected to give its classic inspiration a futuristic and rocky feel. The familiar shield shape of the gunmetal colored case gets a distinctively contemporary look through smoothed surfaces and XXL dimensions. The angular crown is integrated into the case with its pointed tip signalling 3 o’clock. The white or black dial has racy looks with a background effect resembling that of a high-tech sound box. A touch of fiery red stretches from 12 o’clock to 3 o’clock and daringly reappears on the tip of the seconds hand. Celebrating modernity, the case elegantly flows into a stylish, smooth black rubber strap. The limited edition which will only be produced during 2010 will contribute to make the King’s legend alive.

Hamilton was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. Hamilton watches combine the American spirit with the unrivalled precision of the latest Swiss movements and technologies. Known for its innovative design, Hamilton has a strong foothold in Hollywood, with products appearing in over 350 films. The brand also boasts a strong aeronautical heritage. Hamilton is a member of the Swatch group, the largest watch manufacturer and distributor in the world with 160 production sites in Switzerland.

Elvis Presley Biography – Elvis Girlfriends

Elvis had many girlfriends, before and after he became popular, including celebrities like Natalie Wood, Mamie Van Doren, Cybill Shepherd, Tuesday Weld, Connie Stevens, Barbra Streisand, Ann-Margret, and Nancy Sinatra.

In 1954, during Elvis’s high-school years, Dixie Locke was one girlfriend. However, the courtship ended, after he did his shows with Bill and D. J. Scotty.

In 1955, he had his first sweetheart named June Juanico. This was the only girl his mother ever approved of. Elvis met June when she came out of the comfort room at half-time of one of his shows.

Elvis and June kept in touch with one another through phone calls whenever he was on tour. They were sweethearts for 3 years.

Elvis then dated Anita Wood seriously for many years. Anita was 19 years old when she met the king of rock ‘n’ roll. They both shared wonderful moments.

Anita felt part of the family around the guys. Anita lived for a long time at Graceland and she became close to Elvis’ mother. They even spoke about the time Elvis would walk her down the aisle.

Over time, he would buy Anita lots of gifts; one was a diamond friendship ring, a Ford, which she gave to her brother. One day, while Elvis was shooting a movie at the studio, in 1962, Anita stayed at Elvis’s room in Graceland, and found a letter from a girl.

She asked Elvis about it, he got upset and it turned into a fight. Anita was very upset about the whole situation, and felt very hurt so she decided to leave Elvis.

When Elvis was doing the Viva Las Vegas movie, he met Ann-Margaret. Elvis deeply cared for this star and believed that they truly loved each other; however, for some reasons, they simply stopped seeing each other and remained good friends for several years.

When Elvis was sent to Germany for the Army, he met the very young schoolgirl Priscilla Beaulieu. Elvis Presley married Priscilla Anne Beaulieu, after she spent 4 living years at Graceland before their marriage.

Nine months after the wedding they had a beautiful baby girl named Lisa Marie. Five years after baby Lisa was born, the two got divorced.

Linda Thompson came into Elvis’ life at a time he was divorced. Linda is of course a wonderful and beautiful woman. She was not only beautiful but with a beautiful spirit and soul, compassion and humor. It has been said that Linda was by far the closest woman to Elvis besides his ex-wife.

Elvis showered Linda with beautiful gifts, cars, credit cards, clothes, jewelries, a home, and anything else Linda wanted.

However, it was not all about just the benefits, being in a relationship with the king of rock ‘n’ roll, she gave a very deep love for the Elvis and stayed with him longer than Priscilla did. Linda really loved Elvis; it was believed that Linda would love him even if he had not been the King of Rock and Roll.

They split up because Linda felt Elvis would not marry her, so she gave up on Elvis. With Linda no longer on his side, he seemed to age fast; his health and drugs became a real concern.

The king of rock and roll became very lonely so he tried to fulfill his loneliness with companionship of women. With short flings, flirtations, and affairs, he was seen with Sheila Ryan and Cybill Shepherd, and then there was Mindy Miller and Ann Pennington who also performed a short fandango with Elvis.

When Elvis met Ginger Alden, the king of Rock and Roll had really fallen for this girl. The saddest part of the relationship is that Elvis would spend the last, and most painful year of his life with someone younger, who could hardly understood what was happening to him. Ginger was living with him in Graceland the day that Elvis died all alone.

Elvis Presley Biography – Elvis Gospel Music

A group of writers from Asean on a reporting excursion of Pluralism and Religious Freedom in US took a visit to Elvis Presley’s Graceland. The tour emphasized the influence of Elvis’ religious beliefs on his early singing career. When he was in his teenage years, he had worn bright, loud clothes and sported long sideburns. The king of rock and roll was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, and died on August 18, 1977.

During the tour on Graceland, one had constantly reminded that Elvis started by singing every Sunday in church. In 1951, some years before he became a rock ’n’ roll sensation, he attended youth organization at the “First Assembly of God” (a church in Memphis’ McLemore Avenue) “He came in late,” said Blackwood, Stamps (one of the popular Blackwood Brother Quartet).  Stamps, the only 2nd baritone in the 63-year history of the Southern gospel’s renowned quartet, became the best friend of Elvis when they were sixteen and high-school mates in Memphis.

“When he comes in class, everyone would stare at Elvis because he dressed a bit different. His hair was different too. Elvis had long side-burns, and he wore second-hand clothes, loud and bright, white shoes, and a red coat,” Blackwood recalled.

Elvis’ family lived in a simple wooden shack located at the poorest area of Tupelo. His father Vernon later moved them to Memphis. Despite the poverty they were experiencing, Gladys, his mother ensured that Elvis would not turn to crime for them to survive. In 1958 when he was on leave from the US Army, he was strolling on his beloved Graceland home. He had bought the isolated house of Memphis to run away from public attention.

Elvis’ decision to create a record at Sun Studios in Memphis for his mother’s birthday was a turning point in his life and it popularized rock ’n’ roll forever. He paved the way for other performers to sing and present the Afro-American music. As one went through Elvis’ beloved Graceland home, the audiotape tour restated that gospel music was Elvis favorite music.

The old folks at Memphis remembered the early days when the legendry singer strummed his guitar to the blues with the Afro-American singers. Blues song was borne out of hardship and slavery. This music became a form of therapy in the midst of painful experience. The king of rock ‘n’ roll sought relief by singing these blues music as it expressed pain and love from the human heart.

The Graceland tour as well exposed that Elvis warmed-up for his recording sessions with gospel music, and when not, he was always at his home playing his favorite hymns on piano.

During his lifetime, he completed 3 gospel albums: “Hand in Mine” during the 1960, “How Great Thou Art” in 1967 which won the Grammy award for the best sacred performance and “He Touched Me” in 1971. These albums, along with many inspirational tracks of his live performances, are enclosed in the two CD set called the “Amazing Grace.” The collection had not only given spotlight to the remarkable talents of Elvis, but as well served as an opening to the various styles of Southern gospel.

Since then, Elvis was not just a rock ‘n’ roll star; he was also the most versatile song and dance artiste.

Elvis Presley Ringtones

Elvis Presley is a legend.  He is and always will be the King of Rock and Roll. He took black music and brought it to white America, and they fell in love.

Ringtones are a popular form of media today and a passive marketing tool that music artists never thought of.  Every time a person receives a call on their mobile phone, their ringtone is played.  People on trains, in offices, gyms and anywhere can hear that ringtone.

Elvis Presley is a legend.  He is and always will be the King of Rock and Roll. He took black music and brought it to white America, and they fell in love. From his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, Elvis Presley grabbed the country by the throat and shook em all night long. Coming from an extremely poor and humble background, Elvis never forgot about what was really important. He never lost his love for giving and never stopped making America dance. It all started with a song that he wanted to record for his mother for her birthday.

Elvis paid his four dollars and played his song for Sam Phillips. It was then that the music producer knew he had something big on his hands, the next biggest thing the world has ever seen. It was from then on that Elvis would become the King of Rock and roll. From his movies to his service in the war, it was obvious that Elvis Presley owned the hearts and minds of many of our country’s youth population. Even when his popularity somewhat dwindled in the late 60′s, it was his 68 comeback special that put him back on top. He would sit comfortably on his thrown through much of the 70′s, reawakening America with his concerts in Hawaii and then ultimately in Las Vegas. Though the king has passed on, it is amazing to see how much he still is the king of rock and roll. His face is everywhere, on everything, from t-shirts to coffee mugs, impersonators to wax figures, one thing is for sure, that the king has definitely not left this building yet.

Elvis ringtones are popular and remind us of a time in history when music changed the world.  Elvis lives on in many ways and now lives through ringtones.

Dress Up as Elvis This Halloween and New Year

Introduction

On July 18th in 1953, a truck driver named Elvis Presley cut his first song at Sun Records Recording Studio in Memphis Tennessee and with the later arrival of local musicians Scotty Moore and Bill Black recorded some of the earliest and most popular Rock n’ Roll records of all time. Early songs by Elvis such as ‘That’s all right mama’ originally by Arthur Crudup and a cover of Bill Monroe’s ‘Blue Moon of Kentucky’ and along with later records such as Bill Haley’s ‘Rock Around the Clock’, defined the Rock n’ Roll genre by blending boogie-woogie and blues music. It must be no doubt that Elvis Presley is one of the most influential performers of all time and obviously one of the coolest people to dress up as this Halloween or New Year.

Costume Ideas

If you are looking into dressing up as Elvis there are various online sites from which you can purchase a costume. The majority of the costumes are based around his later years from 1970 and the costumes he wore during this period up until his death in 1977. Most of the costumes consist of white jumpsuits that are often studded with glass jewels, these often come with some sort of belt that often also has attached glass gems. In order to finish off the costume you will need a black wig or perhaps slick back your own hair if it is long enough. Obviously unless you are incredibly lucky you will need to go out and buy some long side burn attachments to complete the facial hair features. Next you will be looking at purchasing some sun glasses to complete the cool look, generally the bigger the glasses the better, and a tint of gold around the rims always works well. Also a hairy chest wig or some sort of inflatable guitar is also appropriate as well as a cheap plastic microphone which can add extra character to the costume.

If you want to dress as other eras of Elvis, then the leather jacket era of the 60′s is always a good look, it first starts with a black leather jacket and trousers and make sure they both fit quite snugly in order to wear them just like Elvis did. Next it is always a good idea to decorate the leather jacket with rhinestones in the shape of a guitar on the back, and leave the top of your jacket slightly undone in order to fit in with the look of Elvis at the time. The hair at this time was quite long with long side burns and the hair long over the fringe. A good example of this eras look is the comeback special in 1968, which reinvented his career at the time, but if you are looking for a more stereotypical hair style you could use the later style that is big and slicked back. If you want to go for the ‘Jailhouse’ look from the film ‘Jailhouse Rock’ released in the 1950′s, then you will need a denim jacket and jeans and a black and white striped shirt. The bottom of the jeans should also be rolled up so that the socks are easily visible, similar to the film. To add extra authenticity add Presley to the left front of the jack and add the numbers 6239 to the right side which comes from Elvis Presley’s jailhouse number in the film.

Whatever you do this Halloween or New Year, the Elvis costume is always a well used favourite at parties, and has to be one of the most easily recognised costume available. But what shouldn’t be forgotten is his impact on popular culture and his genre defining music that will surely be around for as long as music is.

THE KING OF POP IS DEAD, SO IS ELVIS – IT’S UP TO ME TO ROCK THE BOAT

I love Architects.  I need to have a badge made, I do.  They’re creative.  They’re visionary.  They’re intelligent in an “un-sad”, non-engineer (ie deathly boring) sort of way.  They’re all-round nice guys but boy their 3D sucks!

You know that private cringe you feel right before Simon Powel tells a prospective Pop-Idol that he’d better keep his day job?  The subtle eye-roll you do when someone over 50 insists on using the word “dude”?  The “does he have a mirror?” popup you get when the fashionless try mixing cheques and stripes?  That’s my overwhelming feeling when the untrained try their hand at 3D Visualizations.

If you want a decent plumbing job, you’d go to oh…let say a plumber.  Need quantities?  Well, then my recommendation would be to pick a QS for the job.  Want an opinion about the acidity of a substance (not including this article)?  I’d go for the chemical engineer or some such.  You catch my drift?

Sadly, architect’s (and their clients who are prepared to pay for and publish substandard work) are not the only culprits.  Some of our fellow animators just have no talent or training.  Some, however, are well versed in “fly-by-night”, “make-a-quick-buck” and “rob-you-blind”.

In a perfectly orchestrated, combined effort, the first and the latter are ruining my industry.

This is especially true for Architectural viz since the 3D medium lends itself beautifully to truly photoreal interior and exterior architectural images, accurately built on spec and from plan.

Another common misconception is that software maketh man.  I know many people who own an oven, and a guitar, and a taxi…

3D software is only as effective in generating a good 3D image as the animator using it.  A copy of Autocad does not make you an Architect  – much  less than a copy of 3D Studio Max, Maja 3D, Lightwave or any of the architectural 3D packages (and of course being a professionally registered architect) make you a Visual Communication Artist (or 3D dude).

Let me categorically state, that designing in 3D is wholly exempt from this rant.  I would trust an architect that does his design in 3D.  Generating a photorealistic 3D image is, however, a different kettle of fish.

So next time you commission a 3D project, get the low-down on your animator’s relevant qualifications.  Or if you consider doing your own 3D, check the framed qualification on your wall.  If it says B.Arch or even M. Arch, you’re not qualified.

Bachelor of the Arts in Visual Communication is a recognized, 4 year degree.  Give your 3D animator the same professional courtesy that you would expect for your profession.

Research the 3D studio’s background.  You need a sustainable service with a proven track record of good 3D and after-sales service.  You want the studio to have the capacity to handle minor and major jobs.  Make sure that 3D visuals are what the company specialize in.  Ask for a full portfolio of their work.  It is very easy to spot bad quality. Please make sure that 3D is not done as an add-on to or a byproduct of architectural design.  This is not Verimark and 3D visuals are not 6 free steak knives.

If you cannot generate an image to which the response is “where did you take this photo”, you’re doing it wrong.  You’d be far better off using a traditional paint and brush artist to give you an impression of what your design might look like or sticking with CAD drawings.

Elvis Presley: The KING of Rock n’ Roll Will Never Be Forgotten

Elvis Presley is well known as the King of Rock and Roll. Many know the story of Elvis Presley’s rise to fame and his untimely death, but how much do people actually know about the man himself and not the legend that surrounds his lifetime? Elvis Presley trivia will surely include questions about his music and movies but what else would it include?

An easy question for a true fan taking an Elvis Presley quiz would be where he was born. The answer is Tupelo, Mississippi. He was born on the eight of January in 1935. What did Elvis say when he first entered Sun studios? “I don’t sing like nobody.” The name of the first song Elvis ever recorded is also a question that will probably come up on a quiz about Elvis Presley. The answers are “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin” and “My Happiness,” Elvis paid a four dollar fee to record himself singing them and playing the guitar as his accompaniment.

Facts about Elvis’s early days have been put into many quizzes about him. A question that is easy for most to answer is what the name of Elvis Presley’s mother was. The answer is Gladys Love Presley. He also had a brother that died at birth, which is something few people realize. His name was Jesse Garon. Elvis was raised in Tupelo until the age of thirteen when the family made the move to Memphis, Tennessee. The reason for the move is something that could be included in Elvis Presley trivia. The answer is to avoid the law because Vernon Presley (his father) was involved in bootleg liquor.

Female fans of Elvis Presley know too well that his wife was named Priscilla. How old was Priscilla when she met Elvis Presley and where did they meet? Elvis first met future wife Priscilla during the time he was stationed in Germany, she was only fourteen years old. Priscilla Ann Beaulieu Presley (born Pricilla Ann Wagner) was born on the 24th of May, 1945. This will be useful if someone asks you when the birthday of Elvis Presley’s ex-wife is.

Another question that might come up in trivia about Elvis Presley is where he is currently buried. The answer is Graceland; the body was moved from the Forest Hills Cemetery in Midtown Memphis, Tennessee during November of 1977 at his father’s request. What Lisa Marie had put in her father’s casket is another question that might come up. The answer is a thin metal bracelet. With all we think we know about Elvis Presley taking a quiz about him could reveal that we don’t know as much as we think we do.
